As part of her community service
mission and in her role on the board
of the Mt. Airy Business Improvement
District (MBID) Elise organized
the purchase and delivery of over
30 street-sized planters for businesses
on Germantown Ave.
On a sweltering day in July, she
oversaw the delivery and placement
of the planters up and down the
Avenue.

CAMA Hosts 2nd
Showing of
Award Winning Documentary:
9000 Needles!
Friday June 17 at 7pm at CAMA
All profits
go to Devin's continued acupuncture treatments.
At forty years old, Devin
Dearth is a successful businessman, a loving husband,
father of three, a devout Christian and champion
bodybuilder. He and his family reside in the small
community of Central City, Kentucky where they
live the ideal American Dream.
That is, until Devin suffers
a devastating stroke. Caused by a bleed in the
brain stem, the stroke leaves him paralyzed on
his right side and unable to walk, with difficulty
speaking, double vision and inability to care
for himself or his family. He has met his ultimate
adversary: The limits of his own mortality.
We follow Devin on this
unconventional journey, during which his courage,
faith, patience and desire to overcome are tested
on a daily basis. The trials he and his family
endure along the way remind us that the human
spirit can transcend any boundaries while exploring
a universal community of healing and transformation.
Tickets Available for
purchase:
$10 at the door.
Showing on Friday, June
17th at 7pm
at CAMA, 6782 Germantown
Ave, (at Carpenter Lane) Philadelphia, 19119

It's all about Community!
Elise sits of the board of Mt Airy Business
Improvement District (MBID). Its mission is
to clean and beautify the business corridor
along Germantown Ave from Washington Lane to
Cresheim Valley Drive.
One of the major projects of MBID in 2011 was
the planting of 90 flower baskets hung from
the new lamposts along Germantown Ave.

Elise played a major role in implementing this
project. She walked up and down this two mile
strip, repeatedly, finding just the right place
to put flowers so anywhere you stand or walk,
your eyes will fall on a basket. She also spent
a Saturday planting 60 of the baskets with a
great group of volunteers and MBID staff including
Hollie Malamud-Price, executive director of
the MBID.

Elise is grateful to work with a great group
of community leaders and volunteers helping
to implement terrific projects like this one.

What
Women are Saying About Their Healthy BonesTime
with Cheryl
|
| "My
doc just called. I NO LONGER HAVE OSTEOPOROSIS!
(Results come from the same machine used for
my last year's dexa-scan.) I do still have
osteopenia, but I consider this a major accomplishment.
I credit YOU, Cheryl, for your wonderful help
with diet and the particular red yeast rice
capsules you told me about. THANK YOU!"
|
| "I want
to praise Cheryl Berkowitz for her amazing
class on bone health. I learned a lot about
the links between nutrition and bone health
as well as the value and shortcomings of the
available diagnostics." |
| "I want
to tell you about the wonderful morning I
had at Cheryl Berkowitz's presentation on
'Bone Health'. Cheryl's talk was time well
spent! Cheryl has a wonderful way of engaging
her audience that results in listening that
is both easy and fun as well as educational
and inspiring. It was obvious to me that Cheryl
has 'done her homework.' I have new understanding
about bone formation with calcium and collagen
which is very helpful in considering some
health choices." |

Preregister

Day of workshop:

There are three
reasons people eat when they are not hungry:
- habit (can be controlled
with conscious will)
- emotional stress (an
unconscious process controlled by hypnosis)
- body cravings (acupuncture
can address these).
We'll use light,
natural trance-work to speak to the stress issue
, and ear acupuncture to lessen the physical cravings.
With this kind
of support your chance at achieving your weight
goals greatly increases.
| I wanted
to let you know that I'm down 10lbs. I've
still got quite a good bit to go but whenever
I feel off track I listen to the tapes. I
also joined a local gym and am still walking
every weekend with my friend. We're up to
5 miles! Keep me in the email loop. - SMJ |
This two hour
class is an experiential introduction: you'll
learn about hypnosis and experience a light trance
and find out about what acupuncture can do for
you.
(Following
through on your weight-loss regime may take a
follow-up sessions. Students in this class will
be eligiable for an ongoing hypno-punture support
group, which you can attend any time you want
support ($30/hourly session with discounts on
packages of 3 or more sessions.)

class sells out quickly.

Only about
25% of smokers who try to quit on their own succeed.
This number
more than doubles by adding the use of hypnotism,
which can help by removing the unconscious drive
to smoke.
Add ear acupuncture,
which can decrease the physical withdrawal symptoms,
and your chance at succeeding easily and safely
greatly increases.
This two hour
is an experiential introduction: youll experience
a light trance and find out about what acupuncture
can do for smokers, so you can decide whether
or not this process (which usually takes about
four sessions) is for you.
(Following
through on your program to become a non-smoker
may take a follow-up sessions. Students in this
class will be eligiable for an ongoing hypno-punture
support group, which you can attend any time you
want support ($30/hourly session with discounts
on packages of 3 or more sessions.)

Sleep is a
form of hypnotic trance that we go into every
night, so hypnosis is an excellent tool for helping
with sleep disorders.
You'll be given
post-hypnotic suggestions which will help you
relax and enjoy a refreshing night's sleep, and
you'll be sent a tape which you can listen to
in bed to help you fall asleep.
We've reversed
Sleep Apnea in clients using hypnosis as well.

| All of
us at Community Acupuncture of Mt. Airy (CAMA)
are excited to welcome you to become part
of our healing community! Elise Rivers and
her growing staff of acupuncturists, herbologists
and healers were the first to bring this kind
of community-style, cost-efficient ($30-$45)
acupuncture to Philadelphia (see newspaper
clipping) way back in January 2005.
CAMA was inspired by the founders of CAN:
Community
Acupuncture Network in Portland OR.
Their model is based on the way acupuncture
was traditionally practiced in China, in
a group setting, which allows us to provide
affordable, long-term health care to the
whole community. (We also have private rooms
available when needed.)

We are committed to providing affordable
healthcare that eliminates both the broken
health care system's red tape and the insurance
companies' inappropriate authority over
your care. We want you to
have the choice of an affordable, compassionate,
effective, preventative, acute and chronic
ailment care alternative; including: acupuncture,
herbs and self-care education. We are an
alternative for those who are insured, underinsured
or not insured.
